Signs of the Times - Matthew 24
7 Deceptions of the End Times - part IIn Matthew, chapter 24, Jesus' disciples asked him a very important question. "What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" The response given by Jesus begins with an emphatic statement: "Watch out that no one deceives you!" This same caution echoes through the generations and resounds with us today. Like birthing pains (v. 8), these 7 deceptions will increase in intensity and frequency to deceive many people as the final days approach. PDF of the Speaker's PowerPoint

Abomination of DesolationIn Matthew 24:15, Jesus points his disciples back to the prophet Daniel and a specific point in the unfolding of the end times. Here we see a beast rising to power, an antichrist that proclaims himself to be god. The point of Jesus' reference marks the beginning of a definite period of 3.5 years of ultimate distress that the world has not seen up to this point. The rule of this man of lawlessness will be cut short after these 42 months. Then Jesus will come forth in power and glory and breathe on the beast, casting him into eternal fire. The teaching ends with a reading of Revelation 19 and a joining in the heavenly chorus shouting "Hallelujah!" PDF of the Speaker's PowerPoint
Keep WatchIn the second half or Matthew chapter 24 (and all of chapter 25), Jesus begins to focus the disciples on what they should be doing now in preparation for his return. He tells them to keep watch. This is a different word than his opening statement to "watch out!" To "keep watch" means to focus our gaze on Jesus and be faithful in the little things. This message describes the two kinds of watching and encourages us to balance both as we look upon the beauty of Jesus. PDF of the Speaker's PowerPoint
